I am constantly moving between painting and sculpture allowing them to feed into each other using character as a means of distancing myself from the work. There are elements of the Absurd within the ordinary and mundane. The need to connect and the feeling of being on the outside at the same time
I have always been interested in animation and with a background in Illustration I am drawn to faces with worn expressions, tenderness and life experience.
Drawing instinctively without reference or intention, I would say the work comes more from a gathering of remembered expressions and gestures than from actual people.
